“Fiddling or feeling nervous on stage doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human. The real skill is learning to channel that energy with confidence and purpose.”
Stage presence is not about eliminating nerves. It is about understanding them, working with them, and learning how to channel that energy with intention and confidence.
Over the years, I have learned that the difference between a forgettable speaker and a compelling one is not confidence alone, but clarity of intention. When people struggle on stage, it is rarely because they lack knowledge or experience. More often, it is because they have not yet learned how to fully own the space they are in.
Commanding a room starts with awareness: of your body, your breath, your voice, and your message. Once those elements align, presence follows naturally. I have seen time and again that impactful speakers do not try to perform. They focus on communicating with purpose.
They slow down when needed. They pause instead of rushing. They allow silence to work for them rather than against them. These small but deliberate shifts are what transform nervous energy into authority.
I shared this approach in a Dubai One television feature, where I spoke about how speakers can move from hesitation to clarity, and from self-doubt to presence.
